...I love my neighborhood. It feels great to see what Stone Street has become and most recently what Front Street is becoming. To see Lower Manhattan come alive and thrive means a lot to me and I am pulling for anyone that takes a shot on this up and coming area. That being said, I went to il brigante tonight. It was a nice night and I went for a walk with my girlfriend and stumbled upon this new restaurant tucked between Salud! and an old school Italian joint that is is the epitome of tourist. Anyways, I hate to say but I have more bad thoughts than good and in the end I am not rushing back to what I hoped was a new neighborhood staple since Quartino closed. As opposed to Adrienne's on Stone Street, this place was the complete opposite when it came to service. No water, no bread, no smile, no "is everything alright"! The service was down right cold like my Peroni should have been! The space is nice,ly put together, rustic and fits well into the neighborhood but I hope the service had an off night. It was not like it was crowded, they were only servicing 3 tables? The food was OK, the gnocchi was very good but the pizza which is a central point is nothing special. I would have preferred to trek across the bridge to get some Grimaldi's. That is a tough act to follow and I do not want to count them out but they need to warm up and treat their neighborhood friends much better. Talk to Adrienne's or Suteishi for some tips. The saving grace was a glass of red next store at the wine b |
