Okay, maybe...blinding is a better word. It's not really that bad. Just a little off, if you know what I mean. Bright,... Read More

Congee Village
LUNCH 80 days ago
Sorry for the poor picture quality but we rushed out of the office in anticipation of a hot, nourishing bowl of congee, not realizing neither of us had brought a camera. Which left us with a poor camera-phone substitution that will not depict for you the simple deliciousness of a bowl of congee. So... Read More

You know a Chinese restaurant is good when you see a lot of Chinese folk eating there. Like many other Chinese restaurants in NYC, they try to overwhelm you with the extensive menu plopped down on your table as soon as you take a seat. There must have been at least 100 dishes to choose from, but my ... Read More

You can't even get 1 lobster roll from Ed's for $14.79. Congee Village, 207 Bowery btwn... Read More

Ordering delivery from Congee Village has only one major drawback, it takes FOREVER. We surmise they don't have a proper delivery service. Usually a very un-delivery man like gentleman shows up at our door out of breath. Otherwise it's $9 for two generous and decently tasty lunch specials; not mu... Read More

I'd only ever had crab steamed over noodles one other time, and it had been a bit of a disappointment. Ever since, I had wondered if perhaps the flavor of this particular dish was just always that delicate (read: bland); if so, I couldn't understand what people were raving about. And then, last month, I tasted the dish again at Congee Village. Now, I'm not much of a fan of Congee Village. Aside... Read More

Braving the torrential downpour this afternoon to meet up with the Iridesco boys for an obnoxiously long lunch at Congee Village. Over congee and snow pea leaves we covered Prague (the tourist trap), timesheets, the trouble with translating literature and the unfathomable-to-us popularity of Diet Co... Read More
